How to Scrim in Counter-Strike 2

Scrimmages are essential for most CS2 teams to enhance their performance. A scrimmage, or scrim, is essentially a regular match but between two serious teams aiming to refine their strategies and improve coordination. Unlike regular matches, the objective of a scrim isn't necessarily to win, but to foster team development. In this guide, we will walk you through the process of scrimming with your team, covering everything from acquiring a server to playing the match and downloading the demo.

Setup a Scrim Server

  1. Go to SCL: Scrim Finder and login.
  2. Click the Create Server button under the "Instant Server" headline.
  3. Select the option Scrim Server.
  4. Once the server is created, copy the IP-address and join the server.
  5. Wait for everybody to join the server, including the opponents. As everyone has joined, use the .start command to start the scrim.
  6. When the match is finished, head to the History tab of the SCL: Scrim Finder and download the demo. Note that you must be a player inside the match in order to download the demo as scrims are often considered sensitive data.


As of today, this is the most simple method of scrimming as the server configuration is already setup correctly on the SCL Servers. They are also free to use worldwide, Europe, North America, South America, Asia, Oceania, and South Africa.

How do I find Scrim Opponents?

  1. Go to SCL: Scrim Finder and login.
  2. Under the tab Find scrims, scroll through the scrim posts to find a suitable opponent for you. You can look at the average FACEIT elo of the team to determine the skill level.
  3. Once you have found an opponent, use the Send Offer button to send a request of scrimming.
  4. You will be informed whether or not the opponent accepts or declines your offer to scrim.
  5. If the offer was accepted, simply wait until the time of the scrim takes place and you will be given a server-IP in the matchroom of the scrim.


In order to improve your chances of findning an opponent, make sure to create a FACEIT team with your team-members, and select that FACEIT team when sending scrim offers. Data shows that you are more likely to find an opponent if they are able to review your skill level.
